Elizabeth Taylor is perhaps one of the most famous actresses of all time. In the prime of her career, it seemed as if she was unstoppable in Hollywood. She is also known for her many marriages, including being married to Richard Burton twice. Their first marriage lasted for 10 years, between 1964 and 1974 and when it was time to get married again, he simply dropped to one knee and presented her with a 33-carat diamond ring.
After that lackluster proposal with one of the largest diamond engagement rings presented to a Hollywood star, the two were married for a second time. Alas, it didn’t last very long but that really didn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Taylor was not only married to Burton twice, she was married six other times in her life and Burton had been married 5 times. Since that time, they have both passed away and the ring was auctioned off for $2.5 million.
